Spiritual Meaning

The fleur-de-lis is not a Tibetan symbol. It is a stylized lily from Europe, carried for centuries on heraldic shields and coins and, most famously, in the royal arms of France.

In Christian art the lily has long been associated with purity, and on old maps and compass roses a fleur-de-lis often marks north, the point you steer by.

Turquoise belongs to a different story. In Tibet it is called yu, worn at the ear, at the throat and in the hair, and its blue is traditionally read as the color of the sky.

Here the two simply sit together: an emblem for direction, a stone for open sky.

Wear them as a small reminder of your own north, the thing you return to when the day pulls you off course.

Fleur-de-lis hinged hoop earring with an oval turquoise drop worn on a woman's ear, dark background

North, and Sky

Two traditions that never shared a map meet here, at the ear. Above, a small hinged hoop with a fleur-de-lis at its clasp, the stylized lily of old European metalwork. Below, an oval of turquoise about 7 × 5 mm, a clear, even sky blue, framed in a lace edge of fine silver beading.

The lily belongs to heraldic shields, old coins and the north point of a compass rose. Turquoise is a stone of dry, high country; across Tibet and the Himalaya it has been cherished for centuries and associated with the sky. Neither needs the other. Together they make something that feels both familiar and a little far away.

The silver is darkened in its recesses so every line of scroll and beading reads clearly, while the raised edges stay bright. The hoops are small and sit close, the stone swinging just below the lobe.

An emblem for direction, a stone for open sky.

Fleur-de-Lis Hoop, Oval Turquoise

Each earring starts with a small 925 sterling silver hinged hoop, its surface worked with scrollwork and a small ball detail, a fleur-de-lis rising at the closing end. The hoop opens on its hinge, passes through the lobe and closes again.

From it hangs the turquoise: an oval cabochon about 7 × 5 mm, domed and polished, an even sky blue with little or no matrix. It sits in a 925 sterling silver bezel edged with a ring of fine beading and a scalloped outer border. Throughout, the recesses are darkened and the raised edges left bright, so the detail reads clearly at a small scale. Color varies slightly from pair to pair. Sold as one pair.
