A Stone That Kept Its Weather
A small bright hoop that closes snugly at the lobe, and from it a single stone, rounded at the corners as if it had spent a long time in a river. About 11 × 7 mm, it hangs just below the ear and moves only a little when you do.
The green is not one green. In the pair pictured there is the soft green of moss, a deeper green where the stone darkens toward its edges, a fine dark web running through it, and here and there a pale cloud. The surface is matte rather than glassy, closer to a pebble than a jewel. Every stone carries its own markings, so no two pairs are the same.
It is the kind of earring you put on and stop thinking about: small enough for a working day, a long train ride, a walk in the cold.

The stone is a tumbled nugget shaped into a soft rounded rectangle, about 11.2 × 7.0 mm, drilled lengthwise and finished with a small bright cap at the top. Its surface is matte, its color green to blue-green, with a darker web of markings and pale patches in a pattern that is different in every stone.
It hangs from a small loop on a small hinged hoop, polished bright. The hoop opens on its hinge, passes through the lobe and closes again, sitting close to the ear rather than swinging below it. Sold as one pair.
