Tiger-Tooth Dzi Bracelet on Braided Cord
Between sizes? Size up — a little room sits more comfortably.
Spiritual Meaning
In Tibetan bead lore, the tiger-tooth dzi takes its name from the zigzag bands across its body, said to recall the teeth of a tiger. The fine red-brown lines beneath its surface are known among bead traders as blood-thread lines, a name for how they look.
In folk tradition the tiger stands for courage and strength, and the pattern is often linked to both: the kind of courage that stays quiet, the kind of strength that holds still.
The smaller dzi has two eyes. In folk lore, two-eyed dzi are often associated with harmony and good relations between people.
The rudraksha seed, called vajra bodhi in Chinese, has long been strung into malas in Himalayan Buddhist and Hindu traditions. This one has five faces, the grooves that run from end to end.
These dzi are newly made. What they carry is the story, and a place for your thumb to rest.
Wear it as a small, steady reminder to pause, return to a single breath, and begin again.

A Quiet Kind of Courage
The cord is pale as barley straw, braided by hand and still a little stiff when it first comes out of the box. At its center sits a dzi, plum-gray and cool to the touch, crossed by dark bands that rise and fall like a row of teeth. Hold it to the light and a web of fine red-brown lines shows beneath the surface, like the veins in a leaf. Farther along the cord, a smaller dzi with two eyes keeps it company, and between them sit beads set by hand: white bone rimmed with copper wire, bone pressed with chips of turquoise, a copper bead flecked red and green, and a rudraksha seed with five deep grooves.
Before long you find the large dzi without looking. Your thumb goes there in the elevator before the meeting, at the red light on the drive home, in the quiet second before you say the hard thing out loud. The smooth face of the bead, one breath in, one breath out. Nothing fierce about it. Just steady, grounded, and calm.
Two Dzi, Bone and Copper
Both dzi are agate. The larger carries the tiger-tooth pattern with fine red-vein crackle, the smaller carries two eyes. No two look quite the same. Around them sit a handmade copper bead with red and blue-green inlay, an ox bone bead with copper-wire inlay, an ox bone bead with turquoise-chip inlay, a yellow ox bone barrel bead, a five-face rudraksha seed, a blue-green disc and a small golden spacer.
The beige cord is braided by hand and closes with sliding knots, so one size adjusts to your wrist. Its two ends finish in small white beads.
Made by Hand
One Bead at a Time
Every strand is threaded and knotted by hand, slowly, the way prayer beads have been made for generations. No two come out quite the same.
